About Emma

Emma Vagen is a Seattle based artist soon to be graduating from the University of Washington in June of 2020, with a bachelors in Interdisciplinary Visual Arts, focusing in Printmaking.

Emma started creating in high school, mainly experimenting with painting, drawing and simple printmaking. As she came to university her work grew to focus around ceramic work and more complicated printmaking techniques. Now as a senior at the University of Washington, she has completed her degree working mainly in printmaking, specifically using screen printing, drypoint and monotype techniques.

Emma's love for art stemmed from a love of fashion, and her interest in the creative world. She adores the fast-paced lifestyle of art-centered people and how free the mind can be. Emma still has a huge love for fashion, and is hoping to take what she has learned from four years as a visual arts student into the fashion world.

Her works explore the complexities of the human body, warping it around the thoughts in her imagination, and creating varieties of the human form. She loves the natural elements of the human figure and how they can be recognized no matter how distorted and warped through art.
